A mesh screen is a tool used for screening or separating materials, typically made from metal wire, nylon, or polyester fibers. The size of the mesh openings can be customized as needed, enabling effective filtration or separation of particles and liquids of varying sizes.

Screen printing is one of its most common applications. During the printing process, a mesh screen coated with ink or pigment is placed over the surface to be printed; a mechanism then drives a movement that forces the ink or pigment through the mesh openings and onto the substrate (such as paper). This is a widely used flat-surface printing technique employed in fields such as posters, greeting cards, apparel, signage, and installation art.
