Manufacturing Procedure
Using the common extruded straight channel as an example, the production process of PVC fibre optic channels is highly automated and consists mostly of the following steps:
Preparing raw materials (mixing and batching ingredients)
Use a rigorous formula to weigh PVC resin, stabilisers, flame retardants, modifiers, etc.
To guarantee that the additives coat the resin particles uniformly, place them in a high-speed mixer for hot mixing (temperature reaches 110–120°C).
To avoid clumping, put them in a cold mixer and let them cool to about 40°C to create a dry-mixed powder.
Moulding by extrusion
A twin-screw extruder's hopper is filled with the dry mixture.
The material is plasticised into a molten state by the shearing and heating action of the screws while the extruder barrel is heated in sections (about 160°C to 190°C).
The channel's initial cross-sectional shape is formed by extruding molten PVC through a die of a particular shape.
Cooling and Shaping
The newly extruded profile needs to be put in a vacuum shaping chamber right away because it is so soft and hot. To ensure dimensional precision and prevent distortion, the profile is firmly forced against the inner wall of the shaping die using vacuum suction.
After that, it goes into a cooling water tank, where the profile is cooled to room temperature by circulating cold water, enabling it to completely solidify and set.
Traction and Cutting
The cooled channel is pulled out at a steady speed by the traction machine. To avoid stretching, thinning, or buildup, the speed must be equal to the extrusion speed.
Injection Moulding of Accessories:
Injection moulding machines are used to create parts like channel covers, clamps, connectors, and elbows that cannot be extruded.
Packing and Inspection
Examine the appearance to make sure the surfaces are smooth and devoid of bubbles, fissures, and deformation.
Dimensional Inspection: Use callipers to measure the height, inner width, and wall thickness to make sure they are within tolerances.
Perform load-bearing, drop, and flame retardant tests as part of the performance sampling inspection.
Label, package, and store for shipping after the inspection is complete.
